YEARS 7 AND 8

Junior School

The focus of our junior school program is to provide our students with exposure to a breadth of subjects and learning areas that challenge and motivate them.

Our students are encouraged to explore their different interests and passions as part of a comprehensive junior school curriculum, that allows students to engage with a range of core and elective subjects across the two years.

Literacy and numeracy underpin our junior school program. All students will undertake a range of writing, reading comprehension, and problem-solving tasks within each study. This supports the development of fundamental skills required for success in their future pathways.

To support our students transition smoothly to secondary school, Dromana College has a designated Year 7 area. Students are able to fully engage in their learning programs under the guidance of their junior school teachers. The majority of Year 7 classes will take place in the Year 7 area, with the exception of some electives.

We operate on a two-week timetable, with form assembly and four 73 minute periods per day.

The Arts and Technology - Students complete one semester each of elective across Year 7 and 8
