The Certificate III in Education Support is a unique traineeship offered by Dromana College. The program is only available to VCAL students and enables them to complete the certificate through one day of training (at Dromana College) and one day of work placement. Essentially this means that VCAL students will attend school five days per week. Three of those days will be VCAL classes, one day to undertake VET Education Support coursework and one day to undertake work placement, which is organised for students as part of the course.
During the work placement students will work with Year 7 and 8 classes to:
- Help students learn to read and write
- Manage Individual and small group learning and
- Contribute to the management of the classroom
Students are paid for their work placement through government subsidies at a rate of $10.63 per hour (Year 11) and $11.72 per hour (Year 12), for up to 7 hours per week. Whist students may elect to undertake this course, final admission is subject to completion of a formal interview process to assess suitability.
This is a one year course and provides pathways into careers such as: inegration aides, community services, aged / child care, personal services and education services.
