OUTDOOR EDUCATION & ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
In this elective, students will learn all the skills needed for a light weight coastal camping expedition. Students will learn minimal impact practices, trangia cooking and nutrition, basic navigation, perceptions of outdoor environments and basic first aid. A theory component is also part of the subject focusing on the conflicting views over the use of the Mornington Peninsula region. Within the semester, each group participates in the coastal walk as well as local snorkelling excursions. The students will also be given the option to swim with the dolphins in Port Phillip Bay. The college can supply some rain jackets, backpacks, tents, sleeping mats, trangias, snorkels and fins. Students will need their own sleeping bag, walking shoes/runners and a thermal top.
