Debating

Debating is a great activity that promotes confidence, research, teamwork, public speaking skills and the ability to think quickly under pressure. Dromana College offers debating through the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) Competition, and the College has a very strong Debating team. The Senior Debating team is open from Year 8 to Year 12 and runs for the whole year. Students train and prepare at lunchtime, and debate externally on select Tuesday evenings throughout the year against other schools. The Junior Debating Program is a program for Year 7 students to learn the basics of debating and runs in Term 4 during lunchtime and after school.

There is no cost associated with joining Debating, but parent transportation to and from debates is required. Students who wish to join the Senior Debating team can sign up by contacting Mrs Bonfadini at the start of Term 1 and coming to the first Debating meeting of the year, announced via Compass. Students who wish to join the Junior Debating Program can sign up in Term 3, via Compass.
